The Mwankumbi cooperative originated in 2016 from a coffee tasting among friends in the village of Ihombe and has since grown significantly – from 44 to 161 dedicated smallholder farmers. Members carefully process their fully washed beans at home before they are inspected for quality at collection points. From humble beginnings with 15 tons of parchment coffee, they celebrated a harvest of 94 tons in 2021 and oversee every step – from milling to sales – with communal commitment and care.
